Insurance is meant to be a safety net in case of catastrophic events (think of car insurance or life insurance). We don't use car insurance to pay for the maintenance work to keep our cars in good running shape. Our current primary care system is reliant on third parties (insurance) to pay for services, and as a result, the insurance companies get to make healthcare decisions that should stay between the patient and physician. Since patients contract directly with the provider for services, there are no third parties that can deny care.

Absolutely! Insurance, when used correctly, is an important tool for all of us to have; reducing financial risk during significant medical events such as surgery, an ER visit, or hospitalization. Most PPO, high deductible and catastrophic insurance plans work well with this model. Also consider healthshares, which provide excellent coverage and many cover DPC monthly memberships! As a DPC, we eliminate the need for insurance at the primary care level. There are no co-pays, deductibles to attain and no hidden fees. By reducing fees and being upfront with care plan costs, we are able to focus our time on your health and wellness.

In adding up yearly costs of copayments, visit fees, facility fees and deductibles—those totals could (and very often do) surpass the yearly membership fee for direct primary care. Even if you choose to carry insurance (and having catastrophic insurance is highly recommended), chances are that for any given year the membership cost will total less than your insurance deductible
Have you ever looked at your plan to see how much you are paying your insurance for things like office visits, labs, medications, physical exams, and procedures like biopsy’s, injections, pap smears, diagnostic interpretations? We’d be willing to bet it’s a lot.
Many patients in Direct Primary care choose to have coverage for accidents and major hospitalizations, but enjoy the affordability of deeply discounted labs, imaging, wholesale medications, and office visits.
When you take the middle man out of of medicine, and take it back to just the patient and their provider- what you get is direct primary care- and that means better health care.
*As of January 1st, 2026 DPC memberships can be paid with HSA accounts

In order to keep the costs down for our patients, we charge a flat monthly fee based on a patient’s age or family size. We do not accept insurance for our services. This allows us the ability to spend time with our patients and less time on the computer dealing with insurance companies. Patients can choose to use their insurance for medications and diagnostic testing if they chose.
